Our History
Opportunity, guidance, support and stimulation--every student needs them and that is why it gives us great pleasure to introduce you to New Breath Productions!  New Breath Productions is dedicated to providing students of music the opportunity to work with area professionals as an extension of their musical and artistic training.  We believe that within this model of collaboration the students grow immensely, not only from the mentoring provided by the professional artists but also by the desire to act up to the level the professional artists exemplify.

New Breath Productions is a volunteer run organization – we do not have a hired staff as we want to be able to use all of our resources for our student programming. Our programming includes one large musical in the fall, and two smaller cabaret/guest artist workshops in the early winter and spring.  Our fall musical last year boasted a cast of over 20 artists – including both student and guest performers.  Our cabarets are generally 6 student artists and 3 guest artists.  Our students are drawn by recommendation from private studios as well as local school music programs, and they range in age from 7-57.  The only requirement for student artists to be in our productions is that they are actively studying music either privately or within the context of ensemble work at their school.  Our guest artists are selected based on experience in the Twin Cities as well as the desire to be part of a production where the growth of the student artists is our primary focus and reason for being.  We have been fortunate to have former Broadway performers who now reside in Minneapolis as well as fine performers from the Minnesota Opera, Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, the Illusion Theatre and Theatre de la Jeune Lune as our guest artists.

We feel what we do is an important piece in the development of young aspiring artists and we are looking forward to a long life as an organization here in the Twin Cities.
